Hope you're enjoying our new St. Margaret's Orchestra and Chamber Music program website!
In yesterday's group class, we started working on SPEED. A few things to remember:
1) If you want to make it easier, give yourself time to think before you play the next note. You can use different rhythms or even play a rhythm twice on every note to give yourself time to think about the next note.
2) When you want to start going faster, use less of the bow! If you try to use the whole bow (or even a third of the bow) it will sound messy. Use only a few inches in the middle of the bow and your rhythms will go faster and be "cleaner" sounding.
Please work on playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star without stopping between notes. Try playing four notes in a row (A, E, 1, E) and then taking a little break. Then try the next four notes (3, 2, 1, A).
Also please practice the "anticipation" listening & walking game at home with each of the pieces on your Suzuki album. The goal is to be able to return to your "spot" WITHOUT RUSHING TO GET THERE ON THE VERY LAST NOTE. This means that you have to know and react to when the end of the music is near...
