Our next two group classes, April 22nd and 28th, will be "open invitation" classes for families who may be interested in signing up for Summer or Fall 2014. Please invite anyone you know who may want to join our Suzuki Violin Academy!
3:15 pm - Prospective families meet the teachers, hear a brief introduction to the Suzuki Violin Academy
3:30 pm - "Open" group class for prospective families to observe: find out if Suzuki Violin is right for your family!
Students who are enrolled this semester: please note our group class will be 15 minutes later than usual. Practice rooms will be available for you during those 15 minutes.

Dear SMES Suzuki Academy families,
Reminders, in case you need them!
1) There are NO regularly scheduled private lessons this week (unless you have made special arrangements with your private teacher).
2) There IS a rehearsal at our regular group class time, 3:15pm, tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/15/2014. This group class will be dismissed as soon as we are done rehearsing (I anticipate this will be earlier than our usual 4:15 ending time).
4) Concert dress: The idea is for our class to appear dressed up, conservative, and (mostly) uniform - so that we and the audience can focus on the music, not on any visual distractions. So, no tennis shoes, no t-shirts, etc.
-Children please wear black dress shoes, black pants or black skirts, and a white top (a black dress with a white sweater over the top is also OK).
-Adults please wear all black.
-Everyone: if you like, small bits of color are OK (ties, sashes, accessories).
-I recommend those with longer hair wear it up, so the violins have nothing to get caught in and hair does not fall over anyone's face during the performance. I also recommend that if your dress shoes have any kind of heel, that you practice playing the violin in your dress shoes before the evening of the concert, as this can sometimes require small adjustments in your playing position stance (specially if you have usually practiced in flat shoes.)
5) The concert begins at 6:30pm and goes until approximately 7:45pm. We are going to be the second group performing, right after the Lower School orchestra (The Lower School orchestra is performing 3 pieces of music). We are performing the following songs, in this order:
Rest Position Song
Chicken on a Fencepost in A
Open E (quiet “shh” please) (Step by Step version)
Twinkle "See you later Alligator" (Rhythmic Variation E)
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Check out the concert info page for other concert details.
